Visitors

There are many types of visitors to our meetings, but they usually fall into one of these categories:

  • Spouses/Relatives

  • We don’t usually encourage this because it has been known to end up in divorces and children disowning their parents. These folks pay $6 for breakfast or $3 for coffee (well, honestly, we usually pay the money for them to come with us!).
  • Potential Members

  • This is usually members friends or co-workers who are deemed "worthy" of membership in our club. Worthy usually means they’re as crazy as we are, but don’t know it yet. We let them eat free for a couple of times to make them feel guilty if they don’t join!
  • Visiting Kiwanians

  • Kiwanis has a unique member exchange program called "Inter-Clubbing" where at least four members on one club visit another club. They give out awards to the club that attends the most meetings of other clubs. Dawn Busters wins every year, but we do get our share of other Kiwanians visiting our lively meetings (usually to plug their own events). Inter-Clubbers pay for breakfast too.
  • Visiting Key Clubbers

  • We sponsor five Key Clubs. We allow their members to join us for free breakfast (as long as they don’t bring the whole club!!) because they are so fun to have around. They really give us life and keep us informed of what service they’re doing.
  • Guest Speakers

  • We usually get lively speakers each morning (which is a difficult task, seeing as though it’s 7am!). We have really interesting speakers from the community such as local politicians, newscasters, radio personalities, representatives from sports teams, or sometimes just a fun speaker we found somewhere! If you're interested in speaking to our club, contact the current speaker coordinator Mel Dussel.
